Musselcracker double-whammy for Taylor-Rose Toich: well after a great start right here, the girls are really getting going. How’z this for a helluva day out with her Dad for Taylor-Rose…two different types of musselcracker!
“So that day my dad and I decided we’re going to go for a shore-dive at Conrad’s, so we kitted up, walked along the beach and we went out and I started off the day by missing a blacktail… haha… my dad laughed and he’s like “Oh dear! Don’t tell me this is the way the day is going to go just me missing” anyway, reload the gun, carry on swimming out, we got out to the Conrad’s Rocks and then I went down and I was lying there for a bit and then eventually I saw quite a few different fish and I just thought I’d lie there a bit longer and as looked to my right this big white face was just coming towards me and I was like “Oohh! I know what this is” so that was the black musslecracker.
He turned nicely for me and I gave him a good shot so it actually stoned him quite nicely it was a really good shot so that was the first fish of the day which I was really happy about and as always black musslecracker tend to look a little bit bigger in the water until you take them out so I thought he was a bit bigger but I was still very happy and then the next fish of the day I shot a parrot and then my dad was diving in the white water and he shouted for me he said the musslecracker are all over here I must come down and have a look.
So I dived down into the white water and I lay up a big brick and there was a lot of musslecracker just everywhere and it was nice to see they were beautiful big fish but there were two big ones. So the one that I shot was the smaller of the two big ones. The other one was absolute “Monstrosity”. It was very big but he just wouldn’t come in for me to get that shot. So I took the shot at the other one which I was very happy about also really nice shot. He took off for a little bit and then he stopped then bagged that one.
Then on the end of the day I finally shot the blacktail so at least I got the blacktail eventually but it was a really beautiful day out we had 6m viz and the water was nice and warm and it was a nice flat day so it was a really nice time diving with my dad.”
